Hurricanes

I lived in Montgomery, Alabama in September of 2004, when Hurricane Ivan struck.

This isn't a tragic story! It's actually really funny! Read on.

We had really bad winds and storms, so a lot of tress and power lines were struck down. I was nine, and my sisters were eight and six. We just stayed in the living room for a few days, playing board games and building forts.

But what I remember most about it is what happened after the storms began to die down.

It was still really windy outside, and my sisters and I were in the middle of a game when my mom called us to the window.

"Look at your crazy friend!" She exclaimed, pointing out the window.

Our neighbour, Amelia, who was a few months younger than me, was outside riding her bicycle. She had attached a sheet to her bicycle and was letting the wind pull her down the street.

My sisters and I started cracking up, and (of course) wanted to try it, but (of course) our mom wouldn't let us.

It was a very memorable day, though, seeing Amelia ride her bicycle down the street in the hurricane winds!
